Artist's Biodata

YatiYusoff was born in 1974 in Kampung Raja, Besut, Terengganu. She is the eldest of seven and has been encouraged to draw and paint since she was a little girl. In 1997, she graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, majoring in advertising with minors in communication studies and fine arts.

Throughout her life, she has participated in a number of group art exhibitions national and abroad since she was a member of the International Women Artists Council (INWAC) and Malaysian Watercolor Society (MWS).

YatiYusoff has always been fascinated by people and nature as a whole. Growing up, she taught herself to draw human figures and found joy in doodling cartoons as well. It is fair to say that YatiYusoff is quite a versatile artist whose work comprises serious to funny encapsulations of human life.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, she joined a group of online artists called #jomlukissamasama who challenged themselves to paint flowers weekly using the same photographic reference. From there, YatiYusoff felt more connected to her femininity and floral universe. She began painting intuitively and explored more artistic possibilities through the use of acrylic pouring, mix media and digital art. Through her art, YatiYusoff hopes to pass on a simple message about the celebration of life as it is.
