Highly influenced by feminine themes and metaphors, Janiz Chan received her formal art education at the Malaysian Institute of Arts (MIA) in 1989.
With commitment towards actively shining light on Malaysia’s rich heritage in her works, Janiz often incorporates both traditional dance, and contemporary responses to cultural dance in her works. Choosing to embrace her
Malaysian roots and culture.


Janiz had 8 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions including France, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan and Chicago, USA. Notable exhibitions include “Tease”,


Janiz first oversea solo exhibition at Artesan Gallery Singapore in 2012, joining a group show “Divan” with 3 weeks residency at Le 100 ECS in Paris, France in 2017. Her most recent show was a group exhibition entitled “The first Asia Ten Countries international Watercolor and Calligraphy Exhibition” in Hualien, Taiwan and her latest solo entitled “Regrowth” about the pandemic Covid19 to the larger ecological crisis in 2020.
